A Journey to Adventure
Pele's Domains/Los dominios de Pele by Maria Retana, Miles Last, illustrated by Salva Ferrando. Our heroines, Isabella and Chloe travel with their winged horse searching for adventure. We have mythology from Hawaii, which merges with nature and a magical world. I would like to highlight the dedication and commitment of the writers in translating the book, as well as the fact that the illustrations are real, drawn by a human illustrator.
Another enchanting story!
This is the second book that I read by these wonderful authors. In "Pele's Domains," Isabella and Chloe, with the help of the mystical white horse Pegasus, travel to Hawaii. They encounter Madame Pele, the powerful deity of volcanic eruptions and the island's protector. The beautiful illustrations complement perfectly this mythical and magical journey. Looking forward to reading their next adventure!
An important message
Chloe's Secrets is a beautifully written and illustrated picture book that brings history to life. It is bilingual, so would be great for those who study their second language. Told from the perspective of a ten-year-old, it shares an important story about family, sacrifice, and resilience.
Wonderful first book in this seriesI
I loved this book. In Chloe's Secrets the illustrations were well done, with vibrant colors children will love. The main characters, Chloe and Isabella, complemented each other well in that their life experiences were vastly different. I thought that introducing Chloe as a ghost who embodies a corn husk doll from New Orleans was brilliant. The author presented the story of Chloe's life as a slave, and how she, her parents, brother, and sister escaped to Mexico to gain freedom, was well done and easy for younger audiences to understand.
Dragons Fighting Ghosts - what more could you ask for
“Miles & Lee and the Ghosts from the Lighthouse” is an absolute treat! The fourth adventure in the series delivers magic, mystery, and just the right dose of humor. A fantastic read for kids 7 and up—and a great way to spark imagination in our otherwise digital culture.

A Beautiful Adventure with a Powerful Message
I picked up Miles and Lee Save the Monarch Butterflies for my grandkids, and we all really enjoyed it! This is the second book in the Miles and Lee series and after enjoying book 1, this seemed like an obvious choice. The story follows two curious boys on a mission to help protect the monarch butterflies—and it’s both educational and full of wonder. The book does a good job explaining the monarchs’ long migration and the importance of milkweed. Plus, it’s told in both English and Spanish, which I really appreciated. It makes it a great tool for bilingual learning too! The illustrations are lovely, and the chapters are short and engaging—perfect for reading a little each night.
Magical, Meaningful Story That Sticks with You
My child first discovered the Miles & Lee series at a friend’s house. He saw the first book on a tablet and was instantly curious. That spark of interest led us to this second book, and I’m really glad it did. Miles and Lee Save the Monarch Butterflies is a great blend of fantasy, adventure, and environmental awareness. It manages to keep things fun and imaginative while also introducing the importance of protecting nature or, in this case, the monarch butterflies. The journey takes readers from a cozy backyard to enchanted forests in Mexico, with dragons, fairies, and technology all woven into the plot in a way that feels fresh and exciting. My child was fascinated not just by the story, but by the way, the characters work together and how everything connects to a real-world cause. That’s a rare thing in children’s books — something entertaining and educational, without sacrificing the fun. The illustrations are full of charm and color, and they really bring the fantasy elements to life. You can feel that a lot of care went into both the storytelling and the visual world-building. Highly recommended for curious readers aged 7 and up.

My kids love STEM subjects, especially anything that deals with outer space, and this hit the target. They truly enjoyed reading this book with me. We read it several times already. If I could give Miles & Lee: Space Explorers 6 Stars, I would!
A Great Story of Children with a Dream
Miles & Lee: Space Explorers is a beautiful children’s book about how two brothers receive gifts for Christmas that intrigued them about space travel. Miles falls asleep and has a dream that he and his brother found a magic button on their toy spaceship that made it full-size and capable of taking them to Saturn and Neptune.A wonderful bedtime story for any children.
Beautiful Bedtime Story
Tender Memories of my Childhood It's a beautiful bilingual book that talks about the traditions María Retena, the author, used to do when she was a kid and the things she used to eat for Christmas Eve dinner and all the wonderful traditions her family used to do to say goodbye to the old year and welcome the New Year. She also talks about celebrating the Three Kings and all the cute things children feel and imagine during those holidays. Perfect for bedtime story especially for children who are learning English or Spanish!
Two Languages and Beautiful Art
The afternoon Snack has beautiful artwork that enhances the story; children are multicultural. The story is about a neighborhood tradition of buying from an ice cream or candy truck with either their money or glass bottles. The story is given in both English and Spanish and certainly can help children learn a second language.
So Real
Grandma's Trunk is a great book. Memories of my nana were brought back. Well written, and the pictures were great. You will enjoy it.
What a lovely story of the wildernessI love bilingual children's books. This story is a beautiful tale about a wise Owl who notices a group of children animals in need and rushes to action to rouse their parents and spur them to action. It's a story of community, familial love, and the adage that it takes a village to raise a child. This is a heartwarming and lovely tale.
Living with Giants
A Giant is Born is about saguaro cactus and their contribution to the Sonoran Desert. It is informative and has great pictures to get involved with. It's great that this giant can provide shelter for the little animals of the desert, even long after it is gone. What an amazing thing to have living right in our backyard!
Reading with two languages can create even more interest as the story goes on
The Pig that is not a Pig captures the growth of little pigs, otherwise known as javelinas. As the piglings are raised by their mama, the reader learns about their homes, their nests, and how mama feeds her piglings. A reader is fascinated by the colorful background that makes the baby javelinas more adorable as time goes on. Walking to eat their first solid food, the piglings move on to nibble, play, and wear themselves out like the babies they are. Maria Retana's story and Salva Ferrando's illustrations bring the reader's world into one that's magic.
Coati fun!
Tall Tails from a Mountain Slope is a lovely exploration of the coatimundi, a South American animal, life. The information and the illustrations are interesting and captivating. The story engages the reader with simple questions and observations.
Hummingbirds
I read You and the Hummingbird with a family friend, and she loved how hummingbirds were compared to people, and she thought that the pictures were both interesting and colorful. I loved how the book had the Spanish was printed at the bottom. I also enjoyed the colorful illustrations. I thought that the facts about hummingbirds were great and informative. I highly recommend this book!
